

My Story
Jamaica Fraser is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and performer based in Toronto, Ontario, working across dance, theatre, and film. A second-generation Canadian of Jamaican and Guyanese heritage, Jamaica brings a rich cultural and social perspective to her work. She is a graduate of George Brown College’s Dance Performance Diploma program and holds teaching certifications from BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dancing) and ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers) as well as completed her BATD ballet exams and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) Advanced 1 vocational exam. With a strong foundation in ballet, contemporary, and jazz, she blends technical precision with expressive artistry in both performance and instruction.

Her professional credits span stage and screen, including Mr. Monk’s Last Case (Peacock), Holly Hobbie, and the Dora Award-winning production BlueBeard's Castle, for which she was also nominated for Outstanding Ensemble. She appeared in Swimmer, a short film directed by Duane Crichton, which was selected for the New York Shorts and Toronto Shorts International Film Festivals.
Jamaica has also served as Rehearsal Director for Ballet Jörgen’s Nutcracker: Local Participants Program in Brampton over multiple seasons, and as Movement Director for the Glenn Gould School’s 2024 Chamber Opera, bringing her expertise to guide performers in professional productions.
As an educator, Jamaica fosters a class environment that emphasizes musicality, storytelling, and structured growth. She is passionate about guiding young dancers toward technical excellence and artistic confidence, preparing them to thrive as artists.
